When you get knocked down by the world it's great to know that friends are there to pick you up, dust you off and help carry the load. Long story short I had a family emergency that caused me to be absent. Guddah knowing the back story stepped into takeover the show for the night. Total boss, what made it legendary was he is located over in the UK! It's like 2am when he kicked off my show pulling an all-nighter then rolling to work. Mind Blown.

So you all have been asking about this for a while. Where can I buy the music your playing. Over the years I've sent people links, and posted playlists here on the blog. But today I would like to share this bit of news. From here on out if I can find the tracks on BEATPORT I will be adding it to my weekly chart playlists. 

Now, do I get a revenue share? No. But if I can help the artist get paid. It's worth it now.

FTA MUSIC: From The Annex #63 with the Librarian [3.5 hours of Ragga Jungle]

Last night was special. Three and a half hours of ragga jungle. Not only that but I did my best to wear 3 different DJ hats. The opener, the middle man and the closer.

Tracks 01-19: The Opener is slower (83bpm), dubby, older classics and experimental.
Tracks 20-38: The Middle Man bringing up the tempo and starting to play a wider variety of tunes
Tracks 39-55: The Closer upbeat temp & drive, heavier bassline, pulling out the heavyweights




I got inspired by an old friend of mine DJ B-Funk how tweeted recently.

 "Creating an opener set is one of the most rewarding and crucial skills a dj can do. Did you know many “bangers” from 3-5 years ago are now acceptable for an opening set? It’s true! They don’t always carry the same energy they used to." - @djbfunk

I totally feel this is one of these "more you know moments".  ba ha. But I could not agree more. Those older classics might just be the perfect thing for your crowd. Or maybe it's full of old heads that want to hear something out there and new that's, not main time. Skylarking by London Elektricity comes to mind.

Each one of these timeslots has different responsibilities, that change depending on your crowd. On that note much love and respect to the Jungle / Drum & Bass community on Twitch. It's always a treat to have you all in the chat, for your comments, questions, and fanfare. Thank you.

Review of DJ Ramza - Get Yourself Together

I'm a collector of sounds this means digging high and low for tracks. I've recently been frequenting Ragga Jungle dot com, trying to keep my the pulse of up and coming producers. It should be noted their is a lot of crap out there and although this review may seem brutal I don't review anyone I think does not have massive potential.

DJ Ramza - Get Yourself Together (Featuring: Natural Black)

Overall:
Light, summer merriment, with a 8-bit video game twist. The ragga audio by Natural Black is an excellent touch. But something is missing, a lot of the right parts are there but its just slightly off. In its current form its a mid grade track, one that I would own if pressed but I would not naturally grab for in a set.

Vocals are dead on, don't change a thing.
The Drums are solid in my opinion. (should be noted I'm a sucker for the old school drum lines.)
3:30 WTF is that break! I like it but where is the rest of it. You gave us a taste of something then took it away. :)

0:55 Rough patch just feels like it jumps the gun a little bit.
The horns are a little reminiscent of a video game.
The Bass is average on the verge of unimaginative I think you have a lot of room to play there.
The Keyboard influence is suzuki, long sustained chords don't really add to the merriment of the track. You might try a different keyboard style.


Conclusion:
The second coming of this track has excellent potential. I'm stoked to see what this ottawa native brings to the table next. Cheers
