Elm Imprint and Digital is very proud to announce the NATTY DUB USA TOUR!

LOCATION: 3129 Pennsy Dr, Hyattsville, MD 20785-1508, USA
COST: $15 (presale) / $20 (at the door)

London-based Natty Dub Recordings was established in September of 2012 by Cabin Fever UK in order to provide an outlet for their own style of Jungle/Drum & Bass music. Straight away Natty Dub became an instant success with the masses, having a succession of #1 chart spots on DNB Arena, Juno, Trackitdown, and Beatport to name a few. Chances are, you have skanked out to many-a-cut from the platoon of bad boys over at Natty Dub.

SAXXON (UK):
Son to a Jazz musician and a Motown fanatic, and brother to a large group of siblings, each guiding him from birth to appreciate all the various forms of soulful music.

Jumping on a pair of turntables before he was 10, with Jungle music just emerging, Saxxon was mixing up the sound where ever and when ever he could get his hands on the 1210’s – Jungle/Drum & Bass has been his love ever since.

His sets feature a balanced mix of upfront forward-looking heavy party vibes music, his style of liquid energy vibes & unique dubplate remixes of well-known jungle/dnb classics, and the freshest “straight-from-the-studio” original music than no other DJ can lay their hands on.

With releases lined up in 2016 on Spearhead/ V/ Critical/ Soul Trader/ Liondub/ Ruffneck Ting & Natty Dub & more TBA.

CABIN FEVER (UK)
Undoubtedly one of the most exciting and fastest rising talents to have emerged from the UK Drum & Bass scene in recent years, Cabin Fever UK has been in huge demand across the UK and Europe.
Producer/DJ, Malachai (formerly one-half of Nightbreed, known for the seminal D&B smash “Pack of Wolves” on Ram Records), along with vocalist, Regina, make up Cabin Fever UK.

Renowned for the ability to select and deliver for any crowd – Cabin Fever UK will deliver the big vibes from start to finish. To date, Cabin Fever UK have performed at major events such as Glastonbury Festival (the UK’s biggest festival), City Flow Festival (Belgium’s No. 1 D&B Festival), and Random Concept.

Cabin Fever UK’s releases consistently receive support from premier league influential DJs across the D&B spectrum including Andy C, DJ Hype, Bryan Gee, Ray Keith, DJ Hazard, Noisia, The Upbeats, and Heist to name a few.

In fact, Cabin Fever UK releases have been so popular, they stormed the Drum&Bass Arena charts for weeks on end keeping the likes of the mighty Ram Records and Playaz Recordings off the top spots.

Cabin Fever UK’s 2013 discography reads as a who’s who in D&B label land with releases on Ram Records, Viper Recordings, Radius Records, Smokin’ Riddims, Grid Recordings, Chronic Records, and Co-Lab Recordings amongst others.

Responsible for the recent dancefloor anthem “Hard Goin” (on Co-Lab Recordings), the tune has been featured in most DJ’s sets around the globe for the most part of 2013 and 2014— the track also found itself on Andy C’s mixed CD “Nightlife 6″ on Ram Records.

Cabin Fever UK’s has also been releasing music under their own imprint, Natty Dub Recordings, which is run Patrick Moran ( Patman ) , and it has been developing at a rapid pace. Cabin Fever UK’s Natty Dub Recordings has a distinct branding and sound that is entrenched in jungle’s rich roots.
Cabin Fever already blessed the global D&B community with 11 high-impact releases on the imprint, 8 of which have achieved #1 status on the Drum&Bass Arena charts, and top 10 status on every other reputable download store.

This brings us to me...

I hope you all will be in attendance. Here is a little intel on on Transit & REDZONE Grill:
Nine years ago, Give Productions created the idea of a weekly EDM party in the heart of Fairfax that grew beyond expectations. We raged! We partied! We had fun! We also hit a few speed bumps along the way... A couple in fact. Fire, snow, floods, city codes...you name it, forced us to change venues a few times. We dealt with the good, and the
bad... yet felt a responsibility to keep things going, no matter the challenge.

Now we are back where all this effort began. The space that was once "Bridges" is back with a face lift!

PS - On a tech note. This was shot with a 2 camera set up ( iPhone & iPad ), so I'm aware of the movie magic / inconstancy (smiling). But for being shot and edited on my devices it only took a whooping 8 hours to make something that looked decent. ba ha.

FOLLOW UP: HEADZ: Friday Nov.4th. @ 9:30 Backstage Bar

LETS GO BACK TO THE FUTURE!

You can laugh all you like but thats what it felt like. Imagine being transported 10 plus years with a couple of friends, a bunch of strangers and some of the DC Jungle / DnB veterans. Mix in a small backbar with minimal lighting and Presto you have HEADZ.

Most of the night was dedicated to those old school tunes which only aided in the mental rewind of the times. Sure many of us were older showing some grey and have moved on from the party scene but as we all were rocking out and calling for the rewind, it acted as a reminder that we all have a shared foundation in a not to distant past.

Although you can never relive the past, Friday night acted as a reminder that we all have a role to play in the future of music. Matt Rodgers said it best "...we have to educate the people about where their music came from..." I could not agree more.

To all the DJ's that played DJK, Eternal, Psykofly, Quannum Logic, Harry Ransom, Locks, Stress & Matt Rogers (& MC Mecha). Thank you for reminding me of the amazing wealth of tunes that have come before. I found myself continually running over to the booth to remind myself who wrote a track or what the name of a particular tune was.

On that note Eternal posted up his set from that night! So if you did happen to miss it here is a blast from your past.

If you all can't tell I still reeling a bit from the weekend. Props to Steve for inviting me out and playing the old school tunes. Wicked props to Rich & Matt for destroying the dance floor its always great seeing you both. A shout to Dan, I look forward to hearing your feed back on the demo I was handing out.

Finally, to everyone else that made it out. Thank you. You all made the evening an amazing success. We all may have gotten older but I'll be damned if anyone can say the old school can't party hard.

FTA REPORT: Turnstyle Record Shop in Richmond Virginia

This little write up is long, long over due. Some where about 6+ months ago I was desperate for a record store. With the death Yoshie Toshie, Capital City Records and finally DJ Hut. The DMV was looking wicked bleak for my vinyl addiction. Sure, I could roll to Crooked Beat, Som Records, or even CD Depot but their I would only be able to fine a record possibly two. This was starting to really force my hand to looking at Digital DJing as a real alternative. Then some where on a DJ forum I found a mention to a record shop called Turnstyle down in Richmond.

Now at the time my reaction was probably similar to yours, how long is that going to take me to drive? Especially when driving 6 miles in DC can take up to 45 mins depending on the time of day. Yea, I was little apprehensive, however one day the need for new tunes was just to great. After a coffee and a quick stretch, I was off on fine Saturday morning!

The drive was a breeze, finding Turnstyle on the main drag was easy, and parking was like shooting fish in a barrel. EPIC WIN.

A brief run down of the joint...

Turnstyle is a boutique electronic vinyl record store with a moderate injection of clothing & art work. Just thinking about this store puts a smile on my face. Joanna and Jessie the owners of Turnstyle have to be the nicest people I've meet in ages. Seriously, their comradely, costumer service and excitement for the dance community is infectious. This combined with a sick DnB/Jungle selection makes it totally tops as far as I'm concerned.

Conclusion:
If your in need for scratching that vinyl itch. Take the time, make the drive and go visit Turnstyle. You will be glad you did.
