FTA EVENT: Vinyl Purist Radio with The Librarian and Drip [Live Stream Video]
The other night I got the opportunity to get on to Vinyl Purist Radio a live stream YouTube channel for vinyl heads. I can't speak highly enough about how much fun it was to play for them. Hart and Teresa totally treated me like family, especially as I badgered Hart with questions about his set up, his vinyl collection and his DJ history. Expect to see more from Hart Drip on From The Annex... hint hint. HA!
Expect to see some dancing, mixing and goofy antic from me, while Drip is nothing but surgical with his mixing performance beside the occasional grin from my hollering as he drops tracks that I wish I had played or did not know I owned (always check the b side folks).
Here is the write up on the two of us for this live stream event.
[[ [ [ THE LIBRARIAN ] ] ]] The Librarian is the DJ of Fromtheannex FM, a Jungle/Drum & Bass show local to Washington, DC which airs every Thursday night from 10-11pm on WERA 96.7 FM. A mid-west original who migrated to the DC beltway 15 years ago in the midst of the great dnb recession, he's been a part of aiding rebirth of the scene in and around the beltway since he joined the community and credits 2Tuff, 3D Productions, SubDistrick, Fun & Bass, Transit (Give Productions) and all other crews for continuing to push the ball forward. Shoutouts to Elm Imprint, Tribalistix Sound, ADstone and The StoneLioness.
[[ [ [ DRIP ] ] ]] Half the brains and all the talent behind Vinyl Purist Radio, Hart Drip has been actively DJing for 20 years. His love for vinyl is well known locally, and his experience on the production side has led him to become both passionate and persistent about sound quality. Drip's sets span the spectrum of dnb and jungle, offering a variety of sounds and bass lines, but from time to time, you can also catch him drop some soulful, groovy house music under his alter ego, Hartless.

London-based Natty Dub Recordings was established in September of 2012 by Cabin Fever UK in order to provide an outlet for their own style of Jungle/Drum & Bass music. Straight away Natty Dub became an instant success with the masses, having a succession of #1 chart spots on DNB Arena, Juno, Trackitdown, and Beatport to name a few. Chances are, you have skanked out to many-a-cut from the platoon of bad boys over at Natty Dub.
SAXXON (UK):
Son to a Jazz musician and a Motown fanatic, and brother to a large group of siblings, each guiding him from birth to appreciate all the various forms of soulful music.

His sets feature a balanced mix of upfront forward-looking heavy party vibes music, his style of liquid energy vibes & unique dubplate remixes of well-known jungle/dnb classics, and the freshest “straight-from-the-studio” original music than no other DJ can lay their hands on.
With releases lined up in 2016 on Spearhead/ V/ Critical/ Soul Trader/ Liondub/ Ruffneck Ting & Natty Dub & more TBA.

CABIN FEVER (UK):
Undoubtedly one of the most exciting and fastest rising talents to have emerged from the UK Drum & Bass scene in recent years, Cabin Fever UK has been in huge demand across the UK and Europe. Producer/DJ, Malachai (formerly one-half of Nightbreed, known for the seminal D&B smash “Pack of Wolves” on Ram Records), along with vocalist, Regina, make up Cabin Fever UK.

Cabin Fever UK’s releases consistently receive support from premier league influential DJs across the D&B spectrum including Andy C, DJ Hype, Bryan Gee, Ray Keith, DJ Hazard, Noisia, The Upbeats, and Heist to name a few.
In fact, Cabin Fever UK releases have been so popular, they stormed the Drum&Bass Arena charts for weeks on end keeping the likes of the mighty Ram Records and Playaz Recordings off the top spots.
Cabin Fever UK’s 2013 discography reads as a who’s who in D&B label land with releases on Ram Records, Viper Recordings, Radius Records, Smokin’ Riddims, Grid Recordings, Chronic Records, and Co-Lab Recordings amongst others.
Responsible for the recent dancefloor anthem “Hard Goin” (on Co-Lab Recordings), the tune has been featured in most DJ’s sets around the globe for the most part of 2013 and 2014— the track also found itself on Andy C’s mixed CD “Nightlife 6″ on Ram Records.
Cabin Fever UK’s has also been releasing music under their own imprint, Natty Dub Recordings, which is run Patrick Moran ( Patman ) , and it has been developing at a rapid pace. Cabin Fever UK’s Natty Dub Recordings has a distinct branding and sound that is entrenched in jungle’s rich roots.
Cabin Fever already blessed the global D&B community with 11 high-impact releases on the imprint, 8 of which have achieved #1 status on the Drum&Bass Arena charts, and top 10 status on every other reputable download store.

JSINN:
Jsinn came up through the pumping scene in Florida during the mid to late 90's. After being inspired by such great acts like Rabbit in the Moon, Prodigy, Josh Wink, R-Fresh, AK1200, Aphrodite, and more, Jsinn decided he needed to spread the wonderful sound of Jungle. So in 1997 Jsinn set out to do just that. He played shows across Florida for many years until he moved to Nashville. While in Nashville Jsinn co founded a Konkrete Jungle chapter in 2006, and its still running almost ten years later. He also helped start a production company that provided visuals, lights, and sound for several events including festivals. Jsinn has moved back to Florida and is concentrating on bringing the fun back into the jungle scene. Now representing the infamous Murder in America crew aka MIA Jsinn is working towards spreading the jungle sound. Stay tuned as more develops...

FTA: Radio Show on WERA 96.7fm
WERA-LP 96.7fm Arlington presents, From The Annex with me (the Librarian). Thursday nights from 10pm-midnight the beltway region will be getting Jungle music, event news, DJ spotlights and more.
Curious about the coverage? Well here is the map that shows our current reach.
What if you outside ground zero? We are live streaming on:
http://wera.fm/listen/playing-now
what if your at a Thursday night DJ events and miss the show?
https://www.mixcloud.com/fromtheannex/
Ladies and gentleman WE DID IT! We got our sound to be broadcasted over the airwaves in DC! Sort of crazy to think this is been in the works since 2009. Starting as a solo podcast project in my basement, then catching a few guest spots in Richmond's WRIR 97.3FM, and now this! Much love and respect to my DMV junglist family, to Joanna O & Jesse Split for getting me on the radio, to Douglas Black for GIVING me a foundation chunk of my archive (I will never be able to repay that), and finally WERA 96.7FM for giving me a slot on your frequency.
Till next Thursday, Keep Smiling Everyone
The Kick off was on (04.14.16) and I was wicked stoked, sort of nervous, and armed to the teeth with more records then what I can play in a two hour time slot.
Listen here:
The show fortunately or unfortunately is pre recorded because of staffing positions that need to be resolved. So my plan currently is to record the next set while the current set is playing.
With that said this first episode got my full attention, live posting of tracks (https://www.facebook.com/fromtheannex/), listening to audio quality, commentary on my performance, and general "Librarian banter". It was just like old days listening to the start of the show in my rusted out Subaru, trying my best to keep my shit together.

FTA EVENT (follow up): Edward The Librarian @ WRIR Third Edition 10.22.11

Everytime I roll out of Richmond listening to WRIR 97.3 FM on my way back to NOVA I wish the signal was just a bit stronger.
Big ups to WRIR 97.3 FM for having me out on a chilly Saturday night to warm up the air waves with some old school Jungle tunes!

Turnstyle (Joanna O. & Jesse) Thank you for always treating me like long lost family. I always look forward my monthly record buying sprees because of your hospitality.
Thanks to all those that phoned in asking about tracks or just sending shouts its good to know your all appreciating the tunes I'm digging out.
