Events never work out as planned. Ba Ha. So Saturday morning after my first cup of coffee and a small bit of yoga I get a call.
RobOne: "Hey buddy, can I ask for a favor?" At this point my only real plan for the day was napping, do some house cleaning and roll south for
Turnstyle's 10 year celebration in Richmond. So doing
RobOne a favor was totally do able. Ba Ha.
As it turns out
Ben Soundscape from the
Insiders was being added to the line up for
Turnstyle's party, but his plane from DC was delayed.
Rob wanted me to pick him up and drive him down at 7pm. Done and Done, I thought. I can help out
Turnstyle,
Rob and this DJ that I've never met. Insert good karma here! When his plane got pushed back to 10pm I was cursing myself a bit as I would now be missing half the show but again I will take the good karma points. In the end Ben was able to get an earlier flight.
9:09pm: I picked
Ben up from DCA and hit the road. After some chatter about his travels, music and what not... he took a bit of a nap. All and all for the best as I put down the hammer and drove to Richmond like a member of the 4 horse men. 10:02pm I pulled up to
the Camel for rockstar parking. Let the celebration begain... or at least continue !!!
Now I've missed most of the night but after hugs and a few free beers I'm not caring.
Method One is on the wheels of steel by now and I'm really digging his tunes.

I wish I could tell you the name of this tune because to get a reaction like that is often every DJs desire.
After his well deserved beauty rest in my passenger seat
Ben Soundscape delivered an eclectic selection of music treats for our ears. Its been well over a year since I saw him spin at Transit (in Fairfax, VA) and its fun to see how his music has morphed.

You don't have to go home but you can't stay here... The Camel in Richmond. Photo Credit: Ocean Eiler |
Now its once again that time. The bar has set us on our own paths home. I (through a mess up) in my google mapping punched in the wrong directions for the after party, instead arriving at my Brother in Laws new house. By that time 4am has rolled around and the battle cry for sleep sounded louder then the battle cry to play the records sitting in the boot of my car.
I would like to end this with a huge THANK YOU to everyone that made that night a wicked success.
Joanna O,
Jesse,
Patrick Currier,
Stunna,
Method One,
Ben Soundscape,
RobOne,
The Camel and everyone else who came out and danced. Mad respect to you all.
